  • Series: Church Meeting

What comes to mind when you think about attending worship service on Sunday?  Lots of thoughts may occur -- preaching, music, friends, sunday school, children, prayer.   All those are fine but the word that comes to the mind of God is TEMPLE.  The gathered church is a temple of God -- not the building, but the people. When God's people in Christ gather, God's eye notices.  They are the visible expression of that local church before God -- they are the body of Christ there -- they are the temple of God there.

We have begun a series of messages on the Sunday meeting.  Our desire is to inform ourselves from Scripture of the significance of our Sunday gathering.  Our culture surrounds us with ideas and values that contradict and undermine the perspective of Scripture.  We need constant reminders of God's thoughts.  We need to apply those values with discernment and faith.  We need to cherish the gathering and honor it as the dwelling place of God in that place.

The presence of God in the temple is all of grace  The church is purchased by the blood of Christ.  God comes to dwell with us because Christ has remoed his wrath from his people.  The presence of God calls for response. We want to live and plan for Sunday as though we hear the voice of God inviting us to come to meet with Him.

We will seek to post application questions with the sermon to assist you in living in the goodness of this truth.
