The most heaven-like event in the life of the believer is when he or she gathers with the rest of their local church for the Sunday meeting. We gather in hope. We gather looking forward to that day when we shall be with Christ, and see his face.
Most of us would be inclined to think of heaven as a tailored experience -- something designed for me and Jesus. I will see his face. I will be with him. I will see my friends in Christ.
That is not the picture of the last day given in Scripture. When Christ completes this age and ushers in his eternal rule, it will be a gathering of the entire people of God in his presence in worship. It will look like an amplified, sinless, joyful, uninhibited Sunday Meeting. It will be all God’s people all at once in one place before God and the Lamb.
We gather on Sunday anticipating that day. We gather on Sunday looking for that city which has foundations whose builder and maker is God. We gather on Sunday with a case of homesickness. We look forward to being with Him, seeing His face.
Are you homesick for that day? Do you some to the Sunday Meeting anticipating that last meeting in the presence of his glory with great joy?
