The Spirit's Grace, the Spirit's Glory

Grace is too good to be true. How can it be that God, through the death of Jesus, receives me with favor no matter how I behave? My record is erased. Christ's record is now mine.  In Ephesians 1, we have seen that God's purpose is to lavish grace upon us. There is no reluctance in Him, no hesitation, no second thoughts. He purposed this in eternity past, he purchased us in the blood of his Son, and then he seals and secures us by the Spirit when we believe. Every aspect of our salvation is certain.  God marks us as his own with the Spirit of God. God secures us for future glory with the downpayment of the Spirit of God living in us.

Therefore, nothing I do can thwart his purposes of grace. No sin of mine will trump the blood of Christ.  If I am in Christ, I am there because of his eternal purposes, through the bleeding sacrifice of Jesus, and by the powerful keeping work of the Spirit. Grace is abundant and free.
