What's a Typical Month Look Like?
Our schedule is simple. Our life is simple.
Who are we:Grace Church is made up of people of all ages who come to know the grace of God in Jesus death for us. We are building a church together. We are learning to help each other live in the power and grace of God in Jesus. We are people who are married with children, and empty nesters too. We have single adults that enjoy their relationships with each other and with the whole church. We do not have a busy church schedule. We think people need time to grow in their friendships and service to each other. We think people need time to relate the Gospel to people around them who do not know about Jesus.
Sunday worship. We meet at 10 AM on Sunday (MAP). This is our weekly gathering as a whole church. Worship on Sunday includes the whole family. We worship the Savior, offer our gifts to him, hear about our common life, and listen to Scripture taught. When we worship we sing about Jesus and his death for us. We sing loudly and expressively. That is why we come together - to worship our Savior for his grace. Our preaching is an explanation of the Bible and always tied back to the death and resurrection of Jesus. We want to throw our lives into Christ and his resurrection and learn how his grace affects our lives today.
Small groups:We value relationship. Yes, there are things to do, and people serve in many ways. But we think God does his best work through the involvement of other people in our lives. After church, we hang out; people do not get up and leave. They stop and enjoy their friendships in Christ. Many folks head to lunch together.
We meet all over the county in small groups (link to list of groups). This is where "church" happens. We have small groups all over the county (link to list) that meet two or three times a month. As we meet, we get to know each other in Jesus. This is not just socializing. There is encouragement, seeking help with growing in grace, getting counsel, and laying a foundation for serving each other. This is learning to live in light of God's grace.
And that is just the beginning. The rest of the week we encourage folks to have coffee with a friend, or practice accountability with a member of their small group. Moms can meet in the park or at the beach with their kids. People may share meals together. They may help each other in times of need - with sickness or hospital stays. This is what it means to be members of the church and serve each other.
Youth
Group:Our youth (14 and older) meet twice a month during the school year for their own
small group. Parents are expected to come as well. This is an opportunity for
them to grow in their relationship with their parents and with each other. They meet once a month (6th grade and up) during the school year
for what we call Youth Corporate. It is
their own worship time, with parents welcome, to hear teaching and work on
application. We also do a yearly youth
retreat. The youth of grace are not tomorrow's church, they are the church of today. They serve in many capacities in the life of Grace Church.
